2 Corinthians 9:6-15
As I have been working through the weight loss goal, I have been learning about and putting emphasis on the human digestive system. We eat so that we can use the energy from it for fuel, much like a car takes in gas, we take in food and then store it until we use it. If we don’t use it, then it just sits there. At that point, it becomes unhealthy and hurts us. When we use that stored energy, it makes us strong.
You Are a Gift and Can Choose How Much to Give (v6-9)
This is a blessing and a curse, for while you have the choice to give/do as much as you want, God is looking to bless people that want to give all they can. The more you put in, the more God will give you.
God is Your Supplier (v10-11)
It’s funny how often we forget this, but everything comes from God anyway – He gives us the strength, desire, and resources to do anything – let’s remember that it comes from Him and isn’t really ours to keep. What’s given is meant to be shared.
Your Service Fills Others with God’s Love (v12-15)
What we do benefits others directly, whether you are the one handing out food, or someone cleaning the bathroom. When we serve, God is honored, and He uses your work to pour His love out on others.
Next Steps
You choose how and how much you participate in the Kingdom, but the warning is to not become a bloated and lethargic Christian. We are here today because God has richly blessed out church family with wonderful people who were willing to roll up their sleeves and give: give money, give time, give effort, give all! Let’s celebrate these acts of love. What do we do with all this?
- Celebrate! Truly enjoy all God has done here and be excited about where He is leading!
- Consider taking the step of Partnership with your church and committing to work with the vision to be a 4D disciple building a 4D church.
- Pray for the church that we would always only seek God and follow His leadership.
God created our church family, bringing us together with a purpose of making disciples of all nations. That’s us. Believe it and be inspired, as together, with the power of the Holy Spirit, we can be a part of amazing things!
